Ocean Hero is powered by Oceanize, a Norwegian company specializing in large-scale ocean plastic recovery.

For years, Oceanize has been collecting thousands of tons of plastic waste from the sea including fishing nets, films and other materials that have accumulated along the Norwegian coastline.

This is not symbolic action. It is an industrial, traceable system designed to remove plastic from marine environments and put it back into circulation.

The recycled granulate supplied by Oceanize is processed in cooperation with Oceanize Poland and Cavitel.

Through advanced material engineering, including color stabilization and strength enhancement, the raw material is transformed into high-performance granulate suitable for demanding applications.

This material is then used to produce:

 waste bags

 retail baskets

 food trays

 logistics pallets

and many other durable products!

Every kilogram matters!

We believe that every kilogram of plastic removed from the ocean should be turned into something useful.

We believe that waste is not the end, it’s a resource.

By working with Oceanize, we are part of a system that removes plastic from the ocean and gives it a second life.

Every Ocean Hero product is made from material that was once pollution.

Today, it serves a real purpose.

The marine ecosystem is essential for life on Earth.

Oceans play a fundamental role in sustaining life on our planet. It is estimated that they generate between 50% and 85% of the oxygen we breathe. At the same time, they act as a natural climate regulator, absorbing nearly 98% of the heat from the sun's radiation.

What's more, the vast majority of life on Earth-around 94% of all species-exists in marine environments. Protecting the oceans means protecting the foundation of life itself.

 Growing threat of ocean pollution

Despite their importance, oceans are under increasing pressure from pollution. Every year, roughly 10 million metric tons of plastic end up in the seas.

A major driver of this problem is the rapid growth in plastic production. In fact, half of all plastic ever produced has been created within the last 15 years. Many regions around the world still lack effective waste management and recycling systems, which leads to large amounts of plastic leaking into the environment, often through rivers that carry it directly into the ocean.

If current trends continue, plastic production could double within the next 10–15 years, and even quadruple by 2040.

 Impact on marine life

Plastic pollution has serious consequences for ocean ecosystems. Today, over 700 marine species are affected by plastic through ingestion or entanglement, both of which can lead to injury, illness, or death.

Recent research also shows that plastic pollution may interfere with growth and reproduction, threatening the long-term survival of certain species.

It is estimated that there are already around 100 million tons of plastic in the oceans, along with 15 to 51 trillion microplastic particles. If no action is taken, plastic could outnumber fish in the oceans by 2050.

 Need for stronger ocean protection

Marine ecosystems also suffer from overfishing and insufficient protection. Currently, only about 6% of the world's oceans are designated as marine protected areas, despite their critical importance.

Studies indicate that nearly 46% of ocean plastic originates from fishing gear, such as abandoned nets. At the same time, overfishing removes trillions of fish each year, disrupting the natural balance of marine ecosystems and threatening biodiversity.

 Why it matters

The oceans are not just vast bodies of water - they are a life-support system for the entire planet. Without urgent action, pollution and overexploitation will continue to damage this fragile ecosystem.

Protecting the oceans means protecting biodiversity, climate stability, and ultimately, our own future.

Our Role – From Ocean Waste to Real Solutions

Oceanize Norway is a specialized organization that has been professionally processing ocean-derived plastic waste for many years along the Norwegian coastline.

Our operations are conducted on an industrial scale, with thousands of tons of waste recovered annually. This includes materials from the fishing and aquaculture industries - such as discarded nets, ropes, and pipes - as well as plastic debris collected directly from the ocean using dedicated recovery vessels and equipment.

In the past, a significant portion of fishing gear was abandoned at sea, posing a serious threat to marine life. Through systematic recovery efforts and cooperation with fisheries and aquaculture companies, the presence of these hazardous materials has been significantly reduced.

Advanced Recycling & Material Transformation

Oceanize AB specializes in the advanced processing of ocean plastics, transforming recovered waste into high-quality recycled granules. These materials are then used to create durable, functional products designed for repeated use.

As part of the Oceanize ecosystem, Oceanize Poland, based in the Podkarpacie region, focuses on:

Supporting this process is Cavitel, a partner company equipped with a professional laboratory. Their capabilities include:
